If you have to scan over 20 documents at home, it may take a while if you are using a multifunction device. This wouldn’t be a bother if you have to do this once in a while but if scanning documents is a daily activity, a document scanner is a definite need.

Document Types and Speed
If you are scanning black and white documents a lower resolution can give your document scanner more speed. If you are scanning highly detailed images look for the highest dpi you can afford.
