Feng Shui Your Home Office – Part 2

Light & Dark vs. Dark to Light

Wind and Water = Harmony and Balance

Although Feng Shui is a thousand year old practice, today the Feng Shui practice has several interpretations when you search the internet. At the basis of the concept there is a focus on the placement of items in your space that encourage or block the flow of energy in your space. Some practices include a focus on specific items like statues and stationary, representation of the five elements with color and materials, and the spirit of animals. My preferred definition is that it is a method to harness the harmony of the energy in the environment to improve human life.

Feng Shui Placement

  1. Your desk should be in a commanding position and not under a beam or drop down ceiling.
  2. Try to place your desk front of tall furniture like bookcases for support behind you.
  3. Use natural light as much as possible. Face the window if possible.
  4. Make sure your desk faces the door and out of the flow of traffic.
  5. Manage and maintain your clutter.
  6. Add positive scents.
  7. Add stationary, calligraphy pens.
  8. Use natural elements, like wood and stone.
  9. Add animal sculptures with positive associations. ie. Dragons = Power, Wealth and Abundance, Horses = Success, Wealth, Speed, Strength and Nobility. Others include money grog, turtles, lions, roosters, winged lions, ducks
